| Fly! for Mac - The Fly! II version par Azzurro Macs |
Well who did believe it ! Christmas 2002 saw the release (we no longer hope it) of a final patch, first and last for Fly! II - Mac.
We find it on Avsim, Fly! II paches heading, the file calls FlyIIPatch240.sit (Correct name : Fly! II Mac 'Final Patch' to Version 2.50.240), size 4 Mb.
That changes evidently the judgment rather negative we can have of this version II on Mac originally.

So, a quick comparative ?
• Fly! 2k is very stable, it offers thousands of supplementary files of quality, in particular magnificent sceneries.
On the other hand, it doesn't know OSX or "classic", you must boot beforehand under OS9.
• Fly! II is interesting mainly for the planes, in particular those of ROTW (list on Simvol), several sceneries (in particular in France), and numerous airports in 3D (those of Doc Parano for France).
It is better to start it from OS9, because from OSX, unfortunaly, the fps are less good, apparently...
Fly! II is besides greevier in machine power :

Remark :
the processor speed, the minimum RAM, and the capacity of the graphic card are "not negotiable".
In clear, if Fly! II is installed on a system which doesn't fill the minimum requiered, it won't work "bad", in fact it won't work "at all" !
Only one compromise possible, the disc space : the absolute minimum is 1.2 Gb to install and store the files of the programs and planes. In the other hand, you can install the sceneries and maps (very voluminous) on CD.
