| Welcome in the IFR course by Koala Articles |
This course is not for professional pilots but is especially made for simulation lovers, mostly the ones who already handles the VFR flight, and who wants to extend their knowledge in flight instruments techniques.
The whole IFR course hasn't been written here due to quite a few simplifications. Many specialists may find imprecisions. But if you find any mistakes, please write me down to correct them.
Finally, and due to the horrible event from the last 11th of September 2001, we won't study anything about the flight principles.

The IFR or Instrument Flight Rules, is the name given to all the laws and techniques compulsary for flying from one point to another troughout the world airspace only with instruments.
We won't be attaching to much attention to pure rules, but general and simplified principles at least has to me known :
-
For the whole IFR flight, a flight plan must be filed.
-
It is possible to change the type of flight " at any time" and switch between VFR and IFR both ways.
-
A minimum separation of 1000 ft and 5 NM is compulsary between two planes, apart in Control Traffic Area of course !
-
A bilateral radio contact is compulsary with a control organism.
-
The pilot is fully responsible for the flight handling.
-
Pilots must possess special flying license depending on the countries.
