Alpine hight altitude airports: L'Alpe d'Huez (LFHU) |
But where will ROTW team stop ? Look at this impressive picture: that's right, such runways exist !
Frédéric has just embarked on a new research: what's to be done, with Fly!, for realizing sloping runways following the real profiles of our dear mountains airfields ?
This project, as the others, required many hours of researches and work, both for designer and beta-testers. Frédéric resolved, for the moment with a "banking", the elevations precision lack, although SRTM. Visually, the result is not as in reality but it's very efficient because it allowed to place a runway following scrupulously the profile published in the VAC map.
Naturally this runway is not a "runway" in the sense of Fly! because a Fly! runway can only be perfectly flat. It's a texturized object. As you can see below, the result is striking.
Thanks to the textures of Bernard Martin, Jean-Louis Vau and Guy Nemoz, photo-realistic buildings appear as control tower, altibar, and so on...
ATTENTION: for the first time, ROTW doesn't propose you a zipped .ZIP file containing elements to be installed by "copy/paste" or Deximport. The downloadable file is one .ZIP file which only contains an autoexecutable file (setup.exe ) which, once started, makes all the work for you. When it's ended, files are in place and databases are updated.
It's a big first and we thank you, in advance, for pointing out problems which you would have met during this installation. Please, read well information window which is displayed at the beginning.
Don't take into account the manual installation procedure described in the "readme" displayed at the end of the procedure.
