Mustang P51D: green version "SU-SU"

 by Leen de Jager
 for  Fly! II

This is the first repaint version of the P51 and only 3 days after the original was released. Very suspicious, some one inside ROTW did certainly leak some information to Leen. What, some industrial spying !

This wont spoil our pleasure as this version is superb and Leen as usual did a very good job. He is a master in his "trade". We know that this aircraft is a difficult one to repaint as it has so many moving components visible from outside as well as inside. In the P51D by ROTW it is possible to see the ailerons and the flaps moving from inside through the side views.

Mustang P51D: version "Yankee-Delta"

 by Leen de Jager
 for Fly! II

For his second repaint, Leen selected, as a model, the Mustang from a friend very dear to all of us the members from the Rennes Aeroclub, Yves Duval. Yves left us 4 years ago following a collision between 2 of his own Fouga from the Cristaline Flight. Yves was the founder of Yankee-Delta with hangars on the Rennes airfield. He was an active participant at all the aircraft meetings with his Fougas, Mustang, Pilatus, Brousard, Vampire and his Cri-Cri with turbo-reactor. He was really a great one of the modern aviation. Latest news, his Mustang did follow him closely. Two months after Yves departure, it did crash at a meeting at La Roche sur Yon. Yves, this new aircraft is dedicated to you; whishing you happy flights wherever you are now.

Leen gave us a version in the colours of the French Air force. We do not know how many Air forces in the world have used this aircraft. With reference to an article in the forum by Ph. Rouyer we are told that over 160.000 were produced. Leen, this should keep you busy repainting to the end of your days !
By the way, Leen, I have identified in the cockpit, the white flight overalls worn by the pilots of the Yankee-Delta group. Thank you for the detail.

Mustang P51D the "pink one"

 by Thomas Eklund
 for  Fly! II

And now a very original version, but one which really exist.
A funny idea for the owner to paint his Mustang in pink ! But as it is said: of tastes and colours,we should not discuss. We only hope the flying model is not affected by the choice of colour (you may trust me if I assure you that the pink as not affected its flying).
Leen has already pointed out that the P51 (as indicated in his first repaint) is an aircraft difficult to repaint. Thomas did remind us of it and we are begging your indulgence if you see some small imperfections in this repaint.
Be assured, it is not Leen you see on the tail.

Any one using the airfield of Chalon-Chamforgeuil in Burgundy may have been surprised to see a flying pink elephant. No, it was not the after effect of too much of the good vine.

Mustang P51D: Dutch military version

 by Leen de Jager
 for  Fly! II

Back at "home" and with a livery more war like, Leen is giving us the version of his own country. An aircraft that may become the "beloved one" of the Dutch flyers. Superb version ! This aircraft lend itself to the brush of our master craftsman.

This time, it is a military Dutch pilot who is sitting in the cockpit, but looking closely... yes it is Leen, we recognize you (at your helmet).

Mustang P51D in a "Normandie landing" version

 by David Fourmeau
 for  Fly! II

And now a very good version with the famous black and white stripes on the wings very characteristic of the aircraft who took part in the Normandie landing.
Our new designer, David Fourneau, did a very good job, more specially on the outside views. We hope this will not be his last contribution !

But with David in command, do not forget to collect your messages, it is the only way you will show that you understand.

The P51 with a background full of beautiful cumulus, ready to take off from Rennes obviously. And also few more details of the body finish.

Mustang P51D in a very "basic finish"

 by Christian Salviejo
 for Fly! II

A very nice but very bare version of the Mustang, no markings, no identification, just a view full metal giving it a great majesty. A very good texture work by Chris, a nice plane to put in a good place in one's hangar.

Mustang P51D two "metal" versions

 by Christian Salviejo
 for  Fly! II

And a further two P51, "metal" versions result of Chris work (for the textures) in common with 2 of the leaders from ROTW, Doc and the Pacha. You must have the original model in your "Aircraft" folder , as only few files are modified by a new repaint version.

These two versions are making homage to the original, now one of the favourite of the simmers world wide.

Chris, who is a purist (as many of us who prefer Fly! II to other flight simulators) wanted to add on the wings the white "Normandy Landing" stripes. Unfortunately this would have created some problems, due to some of the moving parts. This will be the object of a further update.

Mustang P51D "Old Crow"

 by Gunnar van der Meeren
 for  Fly! II

Under the impulsion and with the guidance of Leen, we now have a new aircraft painter who did send us, from Norway, and in exclusivity his first repaint: the Mustang "Old Crow" flown by the famous US flyer, Colonel Clarence E. "Bud" Anderson of the 375th Fighter Squadron.

In 1980, a P51 was purchased by the "Scandinavian Historical Flight" society who did spend 6 years to rebuilt it and to give it the appearance of the "Old Cow".
It is still flying to this day in many of the aircraft meetings.

I know from a reliable source that Gunnar has two more Mustang ready. Soon Fly! II will have the largest collection of P51 of all the modern flight simulators.

Mustang P51D "Shangrila" and "Weavers"

by Gunnar van der Meeren and Leen de Jager
 for  Fly! II

Gunnar (with Leen complicity), is spoiling us with two new versions of the P51: the "Shangrila" still flying in Mexico and the "Weavers" of Captain Charles E. Weavers who did fly in the same squadron as the "Old Cow", the 357th Fighter Squadron.

A further two very nice liveries to add the current total of our "Mustang Squadron" to 12.
These two P51 were used in a presentation to a group of reporters at Simvol and flew over... sorry, I have promised not to say any more, may be next time !

Mustang P51D "Detroit Miss"

by Gunnar van der Meeren and Leen de Jager
 for  Fly! II

Our two friends are now a well organized team sharing the work in a professional way. What is so surprising is when we know how far apart they are, once more the wonder of the internet.

This very productive cooperation use the technique called by Leen "Multy-TIF-Hocus-Pocus" that give us, today, this new Mustang, the "Detroit Miss". It use a number of "TIF" giving an excellent visual quality at whatever distance you look and without compromising the FPS.
This Mustang was part of the SHF hangar (Scandinavian Historical Flight) and was repainted as... the "Old Cow" (see above).

Mustang P51D: "Damn Yankee"

 by Leen de Jager
 for  Fly! II

Leen had started this version some time ago, he has now decided to finish it. We are very pleased of its good work.

It is in fact his very first version, with black and white stripes on the wings and on the flaps visible from inside. He did use this version to refine his technique.
