by Leen de Jager (ROTW)
for Fly! II

Here, Leen tackles superb Staggerwing of Jean Sabatier and gives it the colors of a collection aircraft again operational: the "Duke of Brabant". As always the quality of the result is excellent.

But Leen don't stop anymore with the painting modifications, but with the Jean's help he provides us here a reviewed version of the panel and a right part modified. Of course, all the external views from the cockpit have been adapted to the new colors and are very beautiful.

And if you wish further informations on this superb model, Leen provides in his "Readme.txt" file all the aircraft story and the link to the site which refers it.
Warning: as always for a repainted aircraft, it is necessary to have installed first in Fly! II the original aircraft.

ROTW: Old Finnish Beechcraft Staggerwing

by Leen de Jager (ROTW)
for Fly! II

Leen proposes us here another superb Staggerwing which, taking into account the badge it has, necessitates several explanations translated by Jean-Paul Mes.

The Finnish Staggerwing over Belle Ile

Here what he says in the "lisezmoi.txt" file which accompanies this aircraft:

"About the blue swastika - badge used in its beginnings by the Finnish Air Army.
Originally, the Finnish blue swastika was the lucky charm (*) of the family of Count Von Rosen who did settlement to the "white" Finnish army (for the independance war) of his first aircraft, a Thulin D, March 6th, 1918. The swastika was painted on the top and bottom of wings. In honour of Count Von Rosen, the swastika became the official Air Army badge then also of the Finnish Army.

(*) Contrary to a widespread idea, the swastika is not only the symbol of the Nazi Germany but above all a sign used by the Ancient Persians, Indians as well as other countries or families. The swastika has also been used as personnal badge by certain pilots for the World War I. It is only when Nazis will adopt it as their emblem, the swastika took a political and ideological meaning. In other words, the Finnish swastika has nothing to see with the Nazi party or the facism in general. After the 3rd Reich fall, the Finnish Army gave up to the swastika for a blue and white roundel, new national badge."

For Flyeurs this badge would trouble, Leen delivers also a modification kit to replace it by the current Finnish roundel. History is respected and "comprehensible" suceptibilities also. Thank you Leen to have thought of that.

ROTW: Beechcraft Staggerwing PB1

by Leen de Jager (ROTW) and Jean Sabatier (ROTW)
for Fly! II

Here is a "royal" version of our dear biplane: the one which belonged to "His Royal Highness the Prince Bernhard of Netherlands" in the end of the World War II and which was registered PB1. As you can note it, colors are British.

The Prince was the daredevil of the Dutch Royal Family. Some orange triangles on registered planes in United Kingdom indicated they were piloted by the Dutch.

ROTW: Beechcraft Staggerwing military version

by David&co
for Fly! II

This "military" version painted by David is totally metalized. The metallic glints when we turn around the aircraft are very beautiful.
No recognition sign, just a registration. Very beautiful aircraft which completes well our Beech collection.
