Socata TBM 700: why we chose Fly! |
I made a serie of articles in the Fly! release to compare it with the version 2000 of Flight Simulator. I didn't make this type of comparison with the Fly! II release.
The putting under FS2k2 of a TBM700 of EAAT (the n° 136-ABR), La mise sous FS2k2 d'un TBM700 de l'EAAT (le n°136-ABR), at the surprise of our pilots friends of this flottilla of Rennes, allows me today to relauch a little comparison which justifies entierely, to my mind, the Fly! II choice, since we want to do realistic simulation and not only play.
So here are several screenshots comparing the two versions, from the exterior first of all. To give you an idea, I put a real photo of 156-ABT in the beginning of this article.
Ah, yes, the version FS2k2 is always the first image and flights take place over the EAAT base, in Rennes St Jacques (LFRN) to allow you to compare also the work made by the ROTW on this region.
Now let's pass in the superior speed because here is the comparison of... panels ! As always, FS2K2 proposes only one window to the complete view of the panel, and windows in "overprinting" for supplementary elements. Fly! him works from complete cockpits by scrolling or view change (with the joystick "hat). In fact the authoir of the FS plane indicates us he recovers standard elements to set up his tdb.
We must add for Fly! the following high, low and lateral views which don't exist under FS.
Plus the special view developed by the ROTW to give the impression of lack of space we feel in board of this cockpit and framed on the precise view of the pilot in left position:

Finally, to finish the interior, the laterial and rear views not developed on the FS model (for the moment because it exists on other planes).
Well, the demonstration is made !
Concerning the flight model, it is better to say nothing, we would fall out definitely with our FS friends. When we think of the necessary months to develop ours !
I don't know if this aircraft is representative of all the hundreds aircraft which fill the FS sites, but if it is the case, in ROTW we will stay on releases much frequent, guarantee of the quality, which is the basic criterion of the Fly!eurs.
