The Mont Saint-Michel (France) |

It's a long time since Robert worked on one of the most famous and most visited French monuments: the Mont Saint-Michel.
As you know it, it should have been in Brittany, but because of a nature curious whim (in fact the Couenon, a small river Which separates the two regions) it's located in Normandy. What an injustice!
For about 5 years now, it's forbidden to fly over it. A classified zone (R12) prevents any approach unless 3,000 ft or 3 NM. You might as well buy a postcard! The above picture (taken from the ASH25) shows you what it looks like.
So we had to apply the right department in order to be able to make our report. But, at Simvol, we have connections and we got the permission for approaching it ... as in the good old days. All takeoff were made from Avranches airfield, naturally!
The result is ... amazing, isn't it!
It's a very beautiful scenenery and we don't grow tired of flying over it, so the details level is high. I moreover got a permanent authorization for all Fly!ers, under the high protection of the Navy.

As for the night flight, it's a beauty! To be made, at any price!

And closer, day and night:
